It seems to be all too often in my life that I come to help out a friend or one of my children and I feel totally inadequate to the task at hand.   Does that happen to you?  Is it possible I should ask more questions, look more closely, listen more intently or …….what?   These things bother me. Positive experiences create positive momentum. And positive momentum brings even more positive experiences. Believe that? In reading about Dustin Hoffman, it seems he believed this his entire life. At times of his life momentum meant pushing a car uphill not, the momentum of riding through a smooth sailing successful career. The career was not so much of a challenge to this actor as the success itself was. He had to actually learn to accept and give to himself. He did not think he was deserving.
Give yourself the gift of a genuine, meaningful positive experience. The benefits of that time will continue long after the experience has ended.
It is a gift you can give away. Be sure to uplift, accept, and express gratitude to others. Gratitude can be in a glance, a smile, a very timely gift, an expression, a note or a gesture.

The challenge around you may only to accept yourself…sounds so little and it is so huge.
When we do this , we then can accept and enjoy others. My dad always told me that he had such wonderful children and I would hear him tell that to others also. I did not understand then. I saw the flaws in our family. I saw the fights, the silence, the distance, the differences and really very little joy. But, now I understand at a deeper level. He saw the grander scale of the world than I. He saw that each one of us had the right to develop our own life, our own positive momentum and that was wonderful enough for him.
He always told me to take care of myself and to stop and smell the roses. He never told me how to be good or what color rose to smell.

Being good to yourself is not selfish. Because the more fulfillment you experience, the more value you have to give to others. This is a lesson I continue to learn.

Blurred Vision? Anyone?

Is there something that’s distracting you and keeping you from staying focused?

There will always be some distraction or another, but you might consider taking off the goggles and helping yourself out a bit.

The way to focus on anything is to make it important. If you need more focus, then make the object of your focus more personally meaningful. My dad gave serious advice…..he always said ” Joycie, do what makes you happy!”  Now that’s purpose.  Don’t get me wrong, he tempered that with a little more advice…” If you ever feel sorry for yourself, go out and get a volunteer job, everyone has their cross to carry.” Once my dad told me to work for the airlines, I said, “dad, I can’t be a pilot” he said, “I don’t care if you clean the plane, I just want free tickets.”  Then came his little one sided Mona Lisa smile.  He wanted me to find purpose, to find focus, to find the real meaning of my own life.

Make a conscious connection between whatever you’re doing and your deepest reason for doing it. Clearly know why, and the focus will be strong.  Use your senses. What will it feel like, sound like, look like,when I have a clear focus?  How will I know?  Right now, I know I want mobility in my life. I want to leave a legacy, I want to be happy and make others happy. Every decision that I make in business has that in mind.  Having a clear focus is a great road map that makes decision making easy.

Nice to Meet you Tommy and Qin FONG’s Garden Chinese Restaurant

Do you love your business as much as I do?  I get just a tad bit happier every day.  I meet the most interesting people.  Just last weekend I met Tommy and Qin Lin who own Fong’s Garden Chinese Restaurant in Oconomowoc. By the way, Qin, thanks for the extra take home egg drop soup!   Tommy made me remember, asking questions is the best way to get to know someone else.  The second way is to listen to the answers.! It is a synergistic formula, that asking and then listening.   You know, like one plus one is more than two.  As Tommy sat and talked with  us at his restaurant, I was impressed with the moment. Does that ever happen to you?  For me it is like I am living in a novel and life is being written at that very moment.  It is like the Will Ferrel movie…”Stranger than Fiction”  where Ferrells character’s life is being written as he lives it.  I can relate to that and at times …unlike Ferrell’s character, I enjoy it, I suppose because I feel blessed rather than crazy when it is happening.

It also reminds me of the Native American tradition of using a talking stick. The person holding the stick is the one talking. Listening is so valued in that culture, that not until the stick is passed is anyone even supposed to begin to take their thoughts off of the speaker.  When the stick is passed and only then is the listener to transition into a thinker of their own thoughts. Then and only then can they begin to speak.  Now that is listening  with the full mind, body and spirit.  It is an aspiration of mine.

I love my business because I have the privledge of not only meeting but, more importantly building relationships with people by listening to their needs and intersts.

Tommy is an estute business person, a thoughtful human being and a wise investor.  He is also a listener.

I BELIEVE IN ABUNDANCE!

I believe there is great power in being a believer. It is life saving to me to believe in the good in the world, and that I …from my little Wisconsin town can make a difference.

Abundance is as expansive as the universe and has little to do with a bank balance, but, I believe that will come as a result of belief and then sharing with the world will become my legacy. .

In these times when many are challenged by the economic changes, we have the choice to focus on what is missing or the abundance that exists in our lives.

Our feelings of abundance together will co-create amazing things on the planet, for abundance is a believe and vision.

Through an attitude of gratitude we have come to see just how abundant we are.

Be grateful, challenge your fears, and watch as you notice more of the abundance in the world. If you link abundance with money in your mind, you can shift that now.

It is always a delight to witness a scene like this. All the pictures I could find of casting a net were peaceful.  It is an activity of repetition and the images breaths of patience, faith and hope.  Wisdom is what comes from the repetition.

• Does the fisherman only cast his net when he already knows that his harvest will be great? Or does he patiently and consistently go to the place where fish are and cast his net with the knowledge that it is a means to an end.

• Does the farmer only plant seeds when he already knows that the season will be favorable and provide a great harvest?  What an unreasonable question you may say!  How absurd!  It is the fisherman and farmers JOB to cast their nets and sow the seeds. The do it consistently, they do not fear the past or the future. They have faith in the present effort.  They plan for what they want to happen. They focus on abundance.  Now, thats the law of attraction in practice.

Keep these beautiful images in mind when you compare your business networking life to that of the fisherman or farmer.  In these calm waters and quiet winds of our economic times, it is our golden opportunity to cast our net more often as we have no obstacle of wind or rain, and we can sow larger fields as we do not have harsh elements to stop us.

Cast your nets by going out and helping at your church, giving to others that are less fortunate, sharing your time or talent with the community.  Plant your seeds by writing articles, blogs, start a mastermind group, or set a goal of making 100% more contacts than you did the day before.

These economic times bring opportunity.

Networking, sharing and helping others achieve their goals and dreams,  is cost effective and centuries old method of bringing business to us. Give to others, meet their needs, express appreciation and find joy in the extra time many of us have because of these tough economic times.

This is a time for action with patience, in planning for abundance.

Go ahead make someone happy by contacting them, help them to grow their harvest. Call them, send them a card, include them in an activity.  Reconnect with old friends, school mates, forgive a grievance and establish new common ground. What you behold you become. Perception is reality.  Take action now, be consistent, and keep you focus on abundance.
